47th Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Awards Dinner


Scottsdale, AZ-–Mark D. Breen, President and CEO of Atlantic Development & Investments, Inc., was honored at the Greater Phoenix Urban League’s 47th Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Awards Dinner at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Greater Phoenix Urban League holds an annual dinner to celebrate the legacy of Whitney M. Young Jr. (1921 – 1971), an American civil rights leader, who spent most of his career dedicated to ending employment discrimination in the United States.  Whitney M. Young Jr. was the driving force behind the transformation of the National Urban League from a relatively passive civil rights organization into one that activley fought for equitable access to socioeconomic opportunity for the historically disenfranchised.

This year’s honorees are Mark D. Breen, President and CEO of Atlantic Development & Investments, Inc., as the recipient of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Individual Award, and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, the recipient of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Corporate Award.
